Treatment Specialties

Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety may be keeping you from living the life you would like to live. Anxiety or stress may be caused by relationships, work, life transitions, health issues, or financial issues. I can help you navigate through these concerns that come up for you. There are various ways of managing stress and anxiety such as CBT or mindfulness.

Self Esteem

Self-esteem issues often come from abuse, neglect, narcissistic parents, and trauma. Many adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse feel shame, embarrassed or fearful of talking about their experience with anyone. It is important to work through unresolved trauma in order to be able to move forward and have the opportunity to gain control of your life again and allow yourself to live the life that you want.

Grief & Loss

Grief is an area that individuals may feel they need to get over. Maybe someone has told you “You should be over it by now”. There are no rules for grieving. Everyone grieves in their own way, and it is okay to talk about your loss. Grief can come in many forms. Perhaps you are grieving the loss of a loved one, a beloved pet, the loss of a relationship or a job. Whatever it is you may not want to burden others with your feelings and thoughts.

Trauma

Trauma can manifest in our bodies in ways that you may not have thought of. They can show up as pelvic pain, back pain, headaches, and other areas of the body. Stress can easily exacerbate pain. I work with clients with chronic pain in various forms such as back pain from injuries or degenerative issues. I also work with migraines caused by various factors. I also work with those who have pelvic pain from surgery or trauma.

common questions

Looking for a therapist is a brave step forward when you are seeking help with an issue.

The goal of psychotherapy is to facilitate positive change in individuals seeking better emotional and/or social functioning to improve quality of life and overall satisfaction.

Some people seek psychotherapy because they have felt depressed, anxious, or angry for a long time. Others may want help for a chronic illness that is interfering with their emotional or physical well-being. Still others may have short-term problems they need help navigating. For most types of psychotherapy, your therapist encourages you to talk about your thoughts and feelings and what's troubling you. Don't worry if you find it hard to open up about your feelings. Your therapist can help you gain more confidence and comfort over time.

Psychotherapy is a collaboration between you and your therapist. They may help you with tools to manage anxiety or depression or to move forward from feeling stuck.

An individual therapy session is 50 minutes.

A couple therapy session is 90 minutes.

The cost of a 50-minute session is $150.

The cost of a 90-minute session for couples is $170.

It is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. A good therapist will be a good listener and validate your feelings. It is important the therapist supports you with your needs and checks-in with you at the beginning of each session to see how you are feeling and to see if you feel the therapy is working for you.

Here are some good questions to ask yourself when deciding if you have a good connection with your therapist: Do you feel your therapist accepts you as you are? Do you feel your therapist understands you, or makes a sincere effort to understand you? Do you feel your therapist cares about you and your issues?
